Create Your Best Book Cover
How to design your book cover
As I move weekly through the steps of book creation, I feel like I’m bringing you with me. I hope you find learning about publishing a book as fascinating as I do. Each step is significant and exciting and can make or break your book.
Writing, of course, is the first step that a writer has to get right. This is a long process with its own challenges, but it is only the beginning. Next comes editing and revising as well as sending the books to editors to get professional help, and lastly, producing the book if you plan to self-publish or going in search of agents or publishers if you want someone else to publish your book.
If you are self-publishing, a key part of the process is designing a book cover. And the big question I had and we probably all have, is how do I create the best book cover? I’m a writer, not a graphic artist. The book cover is just as important as what is inside between the covers because the reader decides whether to read the book or not based on the cover.
The best book cover depends a lot on your book. What may be ideal for one book, may not work at all for another because the cover has to be a reflection of content. There may be symbols or themes in the story that need to appear on the cover.
