Guidelines for Writing Flashbacks

Have you ever used flashbacks in your writing?

Should you?

This is a tough one. Some readers like them if they are done well. And others really don’t like flashbacks at all. They want to get on with the current story and resent the interruption.

The good news is that they are rarely necessary. Any past event can be fed to the reader through other methods…
