I’m a WRITER, Here’s My Typical DAY!

Why your day will never be perfect, and you must be flexible

A commonly asked question readers and aspiring writers ask writers is, “What do you actually do every day?” Or rephrased, it might be, “What is it like to be a writer?”

The answer, of course, is that it depends on the author. But you’ll find that writers’ daily routines will be similar — from brainstorming new ideas to working on their latest manuscript, writers will spend the majority of their day thinking about writing and writing.

Being a writer definitely is a unique and fascinating profession, though it’s not what I envisioned when I was young. Getting a sneak peek at a writer’s day can be enlightening for those dreaming of being a writer, so I’m going to share my daily routine as a writer with you, including my morning habits and writing rituals. But my goal is not really to take you through my day, which quite frankly, would not be all that thrilling.

Instead, I’m going to focus on the challenges of getting my writing done and sticking to a routine despite the many distractions and non-writing obligations. Ultimately, being a writer means writing around many other chores, jobs, and life duties. My hope is that after reading this blog, you will have a more accurate idea of not really what writers do, but how they manage to get it done even…
